Sonakshi Sinha at Salman's Kid show

Salman Khan is well known for promoting new talents, be it the new kid on the block Sonakshi Sinha, or earlier Katrina Kaif and Zarine Khan. But as luck would have it the actresses who’ve made their debut opposite Salman failed to make a mark in the industry. Though Salman prompted Kaif but she didn’t start her film career opposite her and it was long time before she got paired opposite Khan. On the other hand it now seems Sonakshi Sinha is the only lady so far who has broke out of the Salman Khan jinx.

The 23 year old actress is being flooded with offers and if the buzz is to be believed she’ll be bagging nothing less than a crore for her films. Already her kitty is full with Shirish Kunder’s next project ‘Joker’ opposite Akshay Kumar. In spite of refusing to do the baring acts she has bagged a meaty role in the sequel ‘Race 2’ and it is believe that the director duo Abbas - Mustan preferred Sonakshi over Kareena. Next is an action-comedy opposite mentor Salman Khan in ‘Kick’ and another project with the Khan directed by Prabhu Deva.

All the other A-listed directors are eager to sign the lady for their future projects and she seems to be holding her forte pretty well. According to many, even though Sonakshi is a star kid her confidence oozes on-screen and while many actresses fails to do much opposite Salman this young actress did her part with conviction.

So far Bhagyashree, Naghma, Chadni failed to make their mark in the industry in spite of delivering a super hit debut film opposite Sallu, but they failed to stand out alone. But everyone thinks Sonakshi will prove it different and is here to stay, well only time can tell that.

Vidya Balan has discovered a new side to Delhi. During her extensive shoot in the capital for No One Killed Jessica, the Bollywood star walked through crowded streets and markets, even in old Delhi, and was quite surprised to find that people did not stop to watch the shooting. Delhiwallahs are as busy as Mumbaikars, the actress said.

"I always thought Delhi was a bit more relaxed than Mumbai where nobody walks aaram se (in a relaxed way). But through my walks in Delhi during the shoot of No One Killed Jessica, I realised that people don’t have time to look at you. Life is as fast-paced here as in Mumbai," said Vidya.

The 32-year-old essays the role of Sabrina Lall in the film, based on the murder case of model Jessica Lall, who was shot dead by Manu Sharma in 1999. For many scenes, Vidya had to shoot in perennially crowded areas like Connaught Place and Bhikaji Cama Place in the capital, but says she was surprised that no one waited to see the shooting, unlike earlier times.

"I give complete leeway to the fact that I was dressed differently - very plain and simply. I saw a mad rush of people in CP and Bhikaji Cama, but people didn’t have time to stop and look at us. I had always heard that Mumbai is more used to stars and Delhi isn’t used to stars, but even here, no one cared! This is one new side of Delhi that I got to explore," she added.

Vidya spent a-month-and-a-half shooting in Delhi for the Rajkumar Gupta film, and says the experience was heart-warming. The film releases Friday.

"I actually walked through the streets of Delhi for the film. It’s been a different and heart-warming experience because it wasn’t like just shooting in one location. I had to walk through streets wearing absolutely plain clothes and shoot with hidden cameras to look like one of the people in the crowd.

"I won’t be able to specify the streets I traversed, but I know I have been through both - Puraani Dilli and New Delhi. I have really explored Delhi like I could never have done alone and I don’t think any Delhiite has explored Delhi the way I did during this shoot," she said, sounding overwhelmed.

The actress who hails from Tamil Nadu loves Delhi’s winter.

"It always feels so good to be back in Delhi, especially at this time of the year. It’s so charming... we don’t have this kind of weather in Mumbai. The streets are so much calmer during these days than the rest of the year. So I really like it."

I am planning to make a film with Rani or Salman or Madhuri : Meera

Pakistani actress Meera, who made her Bollywood debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s “Nazar”, is planning to venture into production and wants to make a film with an Indian cast and crew.

“I am planning to make a film where I am planning to cast Rani Mukerji or Salman Khan or Madhuri Dixit,” Meera said. She is currently shooting for her new film “Om Allah” in India.

“My film will have the complete cast and technical staff from India,” she added.

Tanushree Dutta want to do a historical movie

Bollywood bombshell Tanushree Dutta feels that actresses are asked to shed inhibitions in front of the camera mainly to cater to the public demand and not because the script demands it.’Actually, when people come to you with the line that shedding of inhibitions is the demand of a particular screen role, they are actually pandering to the public demand. Words like demand of the role or the character are all trash,’ said Tanushree.

Asked whether she is ready to shed clothes if the character required that, Dutta said: ’In Bollywood, people have been making movies for more than half a century and they are made in such a way that you need not shed off all your inhibitions. I would really draw the line. I am no more a newcomer in Bollywood.’Tanushree had won the Femina Miss India Universe title in 2004, and made her entry into Bollywood in 2005 with the hit film Aashiq Banaya Aapne. She starred in Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets the same year, and came to be considered one of tinsel town’s dark horses.

But she failed to live up to the initial expectations of her fans as most of her films except Dhol and Bhagam Bhag bombed at the box office.Asked about the fate of most of her films, the former beauty queen said: ’To what extent a film works is beyond me. My first film Aashiq Banaya Aapne did wonders at the box office. Then Chocolate was also quite popular, but it didn’t have the same effect as the first one.

’I just look at my work and of course it’s my responsibility to sign good films so as to make sure that people come to watch. But sometimes there are lots of things which are not in our hands. I always try to do the best I can. Some movies work, some movies don’t,’ said the 26-year-old actor.Spending more than five years in Bollywood, and with an experience of working in nearly 12 Hindi and Telugu films, Tanushree now wants to do something different.

’At this point of time I really want to do a historical movie. May be it’s going to take some time. I have covered various genres. I have done romantic, psycho-thriller, thriller, crime based, comedy, romantic comedy. Now I want to do a periodical. I also want to do a musical film,’ she said.Tanushree nurtures a dream of working on a hardcore subject and literature-based Bengali film in the coming years, but says that she hasn’t got an impressive offer yet.

’I have always wanted to work in a Bengali film. But till date I haven’t got that kind of offer that would impress me.’Bengali filmmakers have come up with subjects that are so touchy and hardcore. Literature- and sahitya-based movies are made here. I want to work in literature-based movies in Bengal as this is the specialty of the Bengali film industry,’ said Tanushree, who has completed a month-long acting workshop in the US.
Tanushree said she wants to sign movies, but she doesn’t have the ’psychology’ of having back-to-back releases in a short span.’I am planning to sign movies. Actually I don’t have that psychology of having two back-to-back releases in three months. I don’t know what I am going to sign next or when I am going to sign next. But one thing I can guarantee, that it’s going to exciting,’ said Tanushree.
